Kennels and play areas complete
We have been breeding and raising dogs for over 25 years, first Rottweilers then German Shepherds. The Caucasian Ovcharka is like no other dog I’ve ever owned. Free thinkers, naturally protective they are easy to train but can be stubborn. Loyal and loving to family and leery of strangers.
We're in the process of OFA certifying all our dogs. Please feel free to ask about this process.
These dogs are large, and bred to be natural guard dogs. NOT for first time dog owners, they are not big balls of fluff .They need socialization and proper training
AKC registered
Our dogs are seen regularly by our vet.
We are in the process of getting all our dogs OFA certified( against hip dysplasia)
We have varied bloodlines, from Russia , Spain, the Ukraine. We have different coat lengths and colors available.
Our dogs also have different temperaments and levels of aggression.
Please contact us to see if we have your next guardian and family member

Keeping the dogs happy & healthy is our #1 priority. From health to housing it takes time and commitment. We've recently updated our kennels. For anyone that has never had a CO, they love cold weather. They would prefer to be outside. They all have their private space with a house , this helps them feel safe & secure. This is usually where they eat, although we do leave several bowls of food in the yard for who ever is out to munch on.
We are a boutique breeder in the foothills of the beautiful NC mountains
We welcome people to visit our kennel and'meet' our dogs. We will try and answer all questions. I do have strict qualifications for potential adopters. Examples: Do you live in a house, any HOA? , what type of dog experience do you have? Do you have a family vet? Can I contact them?
Do you have a secure 6 foot enclosure to keep you dog when not with you? What kind of training are you prepared to undertake?
On the positive side, they are loyal dogs. They are for the most part easily trained, but can be very stubborn. They are bred to protect, so this is what they do. If you want a big fluffy dog everybody who comes to your house can pet, do not get a CO. Get a Newfoundland or a great Pyrenees. These dogs tend to want to guard their yard.
They can be quite playful, so beware, they will knock you down before you know it.
They are big dogs, so health issues for big dogs applies. Hip dysplasia, for one.
Another con, these dogs eat a lot. They need daily brushing
Caucasian Shepherds are known by many names, including Russian Bear Dog, Caucasian Ovcharka,....they are a large livestock guardian , bred to care for flocks and defend their homes against predators. The small puppies can get massive in size, they are intellegent but stubborn, and have an independent nature
They are not inherently dangerous to people, but they are a huge breed with incredible strength so if they have an inexperienced owner or a owner who fails to socialize and train them correctly, you could have a very serious and dangerous animal on your hands.
The Caucasian Shepherd can be very gentle with family members, but its active defense reaction and strong territorial instincts make them very wary of strangers, this would include delivery people, family and friends that do not visit often. Please keep this in mind when looking at purchasing these dogs. They need room to roam, they love to walk the perimeter of the yard and guard for 'trespassers' This may include a squirrel, rabbit, coyote, My dogs do not let anything in our yard. They need secure 6 foot fence, or taller. They can jump and will climb if the right motivation is there.
Make sure you have done your homework . Call breeders, most will be glad to talk with you, some will shut you down pretty fast. A good breeder will take the time to educate you, and help you decide if you really know what you are getting into.
keep in mind that cute fluffy puppy will be over 100 pounds. What’s cute at 3 months might not be at 1 year.
They eat a lot of food, can easily knock someone down , accidently of course. Toys don't last very long. They still think they're a puppy, so will try and climb on your lap. Mine are notorious leaners, full weight.
Caucasian shepherds come in a lot of colors. Just about every color and combination of colors are accepted besides solid black , what they call ‘blue’ and liver. Our dogs are not show dogs, they are for property protection, companionship and livestock protection.
All puppies will go home with a puppy bag which includes food, treats, papers, pictures, etc....
We encourage people to visit us.
