We are located between Greensboro and Charlotte NC.
We have been breeding and raising dogs for over 25 years, first Rottweilers then German Shepherds. The Caucasian Ovcharka is like no other dog I’ve ever owned. Free thinkers, naturally protective they are easy to train but can be stubborn. Loyal and loving to family and leery of strangers.
We support our troops 100% , and held puppies until our service people are able to pick them up and will continue to do so. If your in the service and need us to hold a puppy till you get out , let us know .
These dogs are large, and bred to be natural guard dogs. NOT for first time dog owners, they are not big balls of fluff .They need socialization and proper training
We prefer UKC registration as they actually recognize the breed. We do dual registered dogs, UKC + AKC.
We have various bloodlines, our male is from security and protection lines, parents imported from the Ukraine , Russsia and Spain. Our females , come from Russian & Hungarian stock, and are more LGD, livestock guardian dog.
We have different color dogs that will throw various colored puppies. We have had dark gray piebald, gray, light gray piebald, and various shades of sable. We pride ourselves on staying close with the families that raise our puppies.
Keeping the dogs happy & healthy is our #1 priority. From health to housing it takes time and commitment. We've recently updated our kennels, adding more and updating the shelters. For anyone that has never had a CO, they love cold weather. They would prefer to be outside. We have more then an acre fenced in, but not all our dogs can be loose together. They all have their private space with a house , this helps them feel safe & secure. This is usually where they eat, although we do leave several bowls of food in the yard for who ever is out to munch on.
We are a small breeder in NC
We welcome people to visit our kennel and'meet' our dogs. We will try and answer all questions. I do have strict qualifications for potential adopters. Examples: what type of dog experience do you have? Do you have a family vet? Can I contact them?
Do you have a secure 6 foot enclosure to keep you dog when not with you? What kind of training are you prepared to undertake?
On the positive side, they are loyal dogs. They are for the most part easily trained, but can be very stubborn. They are bred to protect, so this is what they do. If you want a big fluffy dog everybody who comes to your house can pet, do not get a CO. Get a Newfoundland or a great Pyrenees. These dogs tend to want to guard their yard.
They can be quite playful, so beware, they will knock you down before you know it.
They are big dogs, so health issues for big dogs applies. Hip dysplasia, for one.
Another con, these dogs eat a lot. They need daily brushing
Caucasian Shepherds are known by many names, including Russian Bear Dog, Caucasian Ovcharka,....they are a large livestock guardian , bred to care for flocks and defend their homes against predators. The small puppies can get massive in size, they are intellegent but stubborn, and have an independent nature
They are not inherently dangerous to people, but they are a huge breed with incredible strength so if they have an inexperienced owner or a owner who fails to socialize and train them correctly, you could have a very serious and dangerous animal on your hands.
The Caucasian Shepherd can be very gentle with family members, but its active defense reaction and strong territorial instincts make them very wary of strangers, this would include delivery people, family and friends that do not visit often. Please keep this in mind when looking at purchasing these dogs. They need room to roam, they love to walk the perimeter of the yard and guard for 'trespassers' This may include a squirrel, rabbit, coyote, My dogs do not let anything in our yard. They need secure 6 foot fence, or taller. They can jump and will climb if the right motivation is there.
Make sure you have done your homework . Call breeders, most will be glad to talk with you, some will shut you down pretty fast. A good breeder will take the time to educate you, and help you decide if you really know what you are getting into.
keep in mind that cute fluffy puppy will be over 100 pounds. What’s cute at 3 months might not be at 1 year.
Caucasian shepherds come in a lot of colors. Just about every color and combination of colors are accepted besides solid black , what they call ‘blue’ and liver. Our dogs are not show dogs, they are for property protection, companionship and livestock protection.
Our fall and winter litters are sold out. Next litter will be spring, Maddox & Deya. All puppies will go home with a puppy bag which includes food, treats, papers, pictures, etc....
We encourage people to visit us.
